Mark Leger
Mark Leger joined the North Star Fund staff in 2007. He manages the foundation's public communication including the website, newsletters, annual reports, and event materials. "To me, communication is about making and maintaining connections. Through North Star Fund, donors can learn about and connect to a community of support for grassroots community organizing."
Mark brings years of communications experience in both the non-profit and private sectors. Most recently he worked as the Membership Director at The One Club, an organization for creative professionals in the advertising industry. Previously he was a staff writer for a website devoted to outdoor recreation. He also spent years as a freelance graphic artist, and worked as a technical writer on Wall Street.
Mark has also been involved with political activism since high school, and his activist background provides him with personal insight into North Star Fund's work and grantee communities. He has a B.A. in creative arts from San Francisco State University. His work as an artist and an activist has always involved combining text with strong visuals, and his projects have included zine publishing, street graphics, creative media relations campaigns, websites, blogs, and collaborative books.
