Jennifer Merschdorf

"The North Star Fund ensures that the individual voices of all New Yorkers are heard and heard loudly, which is essential to transforming New York City into the type of city that I want to live in."

Jennifer Merschdorf brings 15 years of experience working in both the nonprofit and private sectors. She is currently the CEO of Young Survival Coalition (YSC), a national non-profit organization that supports young women with breast cancer. She has worked at an accounting firm, as a marketing professional, at the national office of the Sierra Club in San Francisco, and as the Director of Development and Marketing at New Yorkers for Parks.

Jennifer received her B.A. in International Business from Washington State University and her MBA from the University of San Francisco.

Jennifer joined the Board of Directors shortly after attending the 2008 Community Gala. "I was overwhelmed at this event with the diversity, commitment to change, and power of this local nonprofit. I knew I had to get involved." As the board point person on resource development, she is helping North Star Fund to maximize the resources granted to New York's grassroots community organizing groups.

Jennifer's activist background in women's and environmental issues, and her commitment to defending the equal rights of all people, connects her to the mission of North Star Fund. "As a board member and donor I feel like I am part of the positive change that is transforming New York City into the type of city I want to live in. North Star Fund addresses the most current and pressing issues and ensures that the individual voices of all New Yorkers are heard and heard loudly."
